Pre-Travel

How long does it take to plan a trip?


In most cases, you'll have your initial itinerary within a few days. First, we'll set up a call to get to know you and your family, friends, or partner (1). Next, we'll ask you about your interests and how you like to travel, as well as discussing ideas for your chosen destination (2). From here, we'll design a tailor-made itinerary and send it over within a few days (3). You can then fine-tune your trip as much as you like and speak to the other people in your party before confirming.

If your needs are more complex, then this process can take a little longer. At the same time, if you're eager to travel ASAP then we can get you from inquiry to flight within a matter of hours.




Do you book flights?


It's up to you. We can sort it all out and save you the stress. Should you want to book your own, then that's totally fine too. Just let us know. We can also book private jets, should you need them.




What happens after I book?


After you're happy with your final itinerary and booked your trip, we will confirm everything with our local suppliers and start the countdown. We will give you access to your personalized trip to an app that contains additional information about your destination and a countdown to your trip. As you get closer to the departure date and have made your final payment, we'll send through your final travel documents before setting up a pre-departure call to answer any last-minute questions.




Can I book extra services once I've booked and paid?


Yes, absolutely. Many do. We're super flexible and understand that new ideas might come to mind as the weeks go on. Just throw them at us.

What are the benefits of having Touralux handle my trip? How are you different from other Tour Operators?


We have no set departures or cookie-cutter itineraries, and nothing we do is by-the-numbers. We're a boutique company that loves to travel, all of whom are dedicated to curating unique, exciting, and often life-changing adventures for our clients. There's nothing we love more than sharing this passion, love, and knowledge - regardless of whether you're traveling as a huge family, on a honeymoon, or as a corporate traveler.




Who looks after us when we are on a trip?


Alongside our support line and your personal Travel Expert, who is contactable throughout, we have partners and contacts on the ground who'll run the day-to-day of your time away. We'll make sure you're introduced and that you have their contact details before you get there. We use local partners because they're always best placed to respond immediately and speak the local language. They are extensions of the team and we've spent many years nurturing relationships with our partners to ensure you are really looked after and supported whilst traveling.




Whom do I contact in case of an emergency?


If you're traveling and need to contact us in an emergency, you'll find our details in your travel documents, located under emergency contacts. If your query is itinerary related, we recommend calling our local partners first (details are also in your documents). For anything that goes beyond this, we have a 24/7 emergency line manned by our team.




Do I need travel insurance?


We highly recommend that you take out travel insurance to cover your trip, we can give you recommendations about which providers to choose.




Do I need vaccines for my trip?


Please be aware it's your responsibility to ensure you're covered for all possible vaccinations or medications needed for your trip. We pride ourselves on being able to do many things, but sadly we're not qualified physicians, so please speak with your doctor to ensure you're up to date on your recommended vaccinations. Often vaccinations need to be given well over a month prior to departure to have reached full efficacy.

Book With Confidence

Touralux's approach to fully customized, tailor-made travel extends to our flexibility in making alterations to your itinerary. Beyond our standard terms and conditions, which give you peace of mind and financial security, we go further to work with you to determine the best balance between your need for flexibility and the specific policies of the elements we combine to create the perfect trip. When we present you with a quotation, in addition to the deposit terms and payments schedule, we will also explain how flexible the itinerary can be.  For example:

  •     Could you postpone the trip to another date at no penalty?

  •     Could you opt to change destinations entirely to another country, or a different route within the same country?

  •     Could you cancel the booking entirely and apply the deposit paid as a credit toward a future trip?

This will change based on the specifics of your trip. Still, we will always give you transparency around the terms of your specific proposal - for example, a particular safari lodge may require a non-refundable deposit, which would then be forfeited if you decided to stay at an alternative property.  Or a guide or activity provider might offer fully refundable conditions until a certain number of days before travel.  

 

Before you boo, you will be presented with terms and conditions for each component to help design an inspiring trip that you are comfortable and secure with. The cost to postpone or reroute a trip would only go up if you were traveling at a more expensive time of year, upgrading an element that had an associated price increase. It could be a higher airfare or room category or forfeiting a deposit to a property you no longer wished to visit, as an example. We pride ourselves on our highly personalized service and are used to working with clients to make changes to their itineraries up to the moment before departure.

OUR APPROACH

 

The emergence of the Covid-19 virus and the encompassing press coverage has understandably generated questions and concerns around planning travel when the virus is still spreading, and official government travel advice continues to change.

As a highly personalized and service-driven company, Touralux is keen to support all our clients in helping you to make the best possible decisions around your travel plans. Every client’s situation is different, and so we always make recommendations on a case-by-case basis. Still, the below gives some general guidelines of how we are managing the Covid-19 condition:

We are closely monitoring and managing this situation as it evolves. We receive daily updates from our local contacts in-country and carefully review any news and official changes in travel advice from the US State Department into destinations we operate.


Should official travel advice change to recommend against travel to your chosen destination, we will work actively with you to reroute or reschedule your itinerary. Once again, with Touralux, you will have a personal contact to speak with about your plans; and our 24/7 emergency number while you are traveling. We are actively communicating any changes in travel advice for clients due to depart within 90 days. We are always available to speak about any concerns or questions you may have, regardless of when or where you may be traveling.


Despite the extensive news coverage around travel disruptions, most of our clients are continuing to travel as planned and are experiencing no interruptions to their itineraries.


As always, our primary priority is the health, wellbeing, and happiness of our clients and staff, and we will continue to take any action necessary to support those traveling with us as fully as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

I'm traveling with you in the next eight weeks, what if the State Department changes its advisory level to my destination?


If you are due to travel to a country on which the US State Department has raised or does in future raise its advisory Level to 3 (Reconsider Travel) or Level 4 (Do Not Travel), we will be in contact immediately to discuss the nature of the advice and the most viable options for rerouting or postponing your trip. As with our entire service, we appreciate that every client and every itinerary is different, and will, therefore, review each case individually to agree on the most appropriate course of action to fit your circumstances and situation.




I'm traveling with you in 8+ weeks, what do you advice?


The circumstances around Covid-19 are evolving on an hourly basis. At this point, our recommendation would be to continue to monitor the situation in the hopeful expectation that your chosen destination will be safe for travel at that stage. If, however, you would like to consider pre-emptively postponing your trip, we would be happy to review the possibilities with you.




What happens if I choose to postpone my dates to a season when rates are higher or lower?


If you wish to consider traveling in a season when rates are higher than you originally booked, we will calculate and communicate to you the increase in the price of the trip, which you would then need to pay as a supplement according to our standard payment terms. If you choose to travel in a season when rates are lower, we would be able to offer you a refund of the difference between your original booking and your new booking.




I want to book a trip, but what if the US State Department Travel Advisory advice changes?


We constantly monitor changes in travel advice to the destinations in which we operate – should this advice change in the lead-up to your trip we will communicate this to you immediately and at that time can discuss the right course of action, as detailed above.
